czech project
In 2008 NLI will be starting a church planting project in the Czech Republic. While the center of the project will be in the North Moravia region of the country, there will also be new churches planted near Prague, the capital. Currently, the Apostolic Church counts 30 local congregations with 80 preaching stations. This project is set for 10-11 new church plants. The potential exists to see a significant impact not only in the region but in the nation.
The process takes place in two stages. In year one, potential church planters are encouraged to begin small groups in the target cities. This builds a strong local base and gives opportunity for the church planter to demonstrate the necessary tools for long term success. Each church plant is partnered with a “mother” church in the country as well as a partner church from the west. During this first year, the church planter participates in specialized training with other planters as well as the Advanced Leadership Training Conferences. This training is part of NLI’s commitment to resource the church planter with the skill and growth he/she will need. In year two, the public launch of the new church starts and the church plant begins to benefit from short-term mission teams facilitated by NLI. The specialized training, as well as the ALTC, continues over the next three years of the project.
Throughout the process, NLI and the mother church engage in a process of pastoral care for the church planter. Our goal is to plant healthy churches, with healthy leaders who will continue the process by assisting in planting even more life giving churches in their nation.
